Annie Casting Call for Dogs

We have cast the human roles and now we’re ready to cast the dog roles! We are seeking a dog to be our Sandy in GREAT Theatre’s upcoming production of Annie which will be performed at the Paramount Center for the Arts. The dog must be house-trained, have good recall, be at ease around large groups of people (including children), and unbothered by loud noises, bright lights, and sudden movements.

Sandy – Annie’s dog (Medium Dog – Preferably with Yellow/Golden Fur)

• Bark, Sit, & Stay on command
• Run out on stage off leash 
• Run towards a person, off leash
• Walk down stairs

SCHEDULE

Rehearsals

• The dog and owner/guardian will need to attend one to two rehearsals based on availability beginning sometime in mid October (Rehearsals are typically Mondays- Thursdays from 6-9pm and Saturdays from 12-4p.)

Tech week 

The dog and owner/guardian must be available to attend all technical rehearsals. They won’t necessarily be called the entire time of the rehearsal. 

• Monday, November 17th – 5:30 – 10pm 
• Tuesday, November 18th – 5:30 – 10pm 
• Wednesday, November 19th – 5:30 – 10pm 
• Thursday, November 20th – 5:30 – 10pm 

Performances

The dog and owner/guardian must be available to attend all performances. 

WEEKEND 1

• Friday, November 21st from 5:00p-10:00p (7:00p Performance)
• Saturday, November 22nd from 9:30a-2:00p (11:00a Performance)
• Saturday, November 22nd  from 2:30p-7:00p (4:00p Performance)
• Sunday, November 23rd from 11:30a-4:00p (1:00p Performance)

WEEKEND 2

• Tuesday, November 25th from  8:00a-12:30p (9:30a Student Matinees)
• Friday, November 28th from 5:30p-10:00p (7:00p Performance)
• Saturday, November 29th from 9:30a-2:00p (11:00a Performance)
• Saturday, November 29th  from 2:30p-7:00p (4:00p Performance)
• Sunday, November 30th from 11:30a-4:00p (1:00p Performance)
• Sunday, November 30th from 4:30p-9:00p (6:00p Performance)

WEEKEND 3

• Tuesday, December 2nd from  8:00a-12:30p (9:30a Student Matinees)
• Thursday, December 4th 8:00a-12:30p (9:30a Student Matinees)
• Friday, December 5th from 5:30p-10:00p (7:00p Performance)
• Saturday, December 6th from 9:30a-2:00p (11:00a Performance) 
• Saturday, December 6th  from 2:30p-7:00p (4:00p Performance)
• Sunday, December 7th from 11:30a-4:00p (1:00p Performance)

Casting Process 

1. Submit Form by Sept 29th. (contact info, dog description, why, photo, agree to schedule). Will be reviewed as they are received. 
2. We’ll set up a meet and greet with dog, actor, and director for October 4th for those that seem to be a good fit. 
3. Rehearsals (schedule TBD) would begin mid October.
