We have cast the human roles and now we’re ready to cast the dog roles! We are seeking two dogs (and their owners/guardians) to volunteer to be part of our upcoming production of Legally Blonde The Musical at the Paramount Center for the Arts. Both dogs need to be house trained and comfortable around large groups of people, loud noises, bright lights, sudden movements, and other dogs.

Roles

Bruiser – Elle Woods’s dog (Small lap dog such as a chihuahua, pomeranian, terrier, etc).
Appears in multiple scenes and will need to be able to:

  • Bark on command
  • Run out on stage off leash 
  • Be picked up and carried around

Rufus – Paulette’s dog (Small to medium sized bulldog, boxer, or other breed of similar look)
Appears in multiple scenes and will need to be able to: 

  • Run down three stairs
  • Run towards a person, off leash

Schedule

Rehearsals The dog and owner/guardian will need to attend one to two rehearsals per week the weeks of March 13, 20 and 27. We rehearse on Monday, Tuesday, Thursdays from 6-9pm and some Saturdays. We’ll schedule based on availability. 


Tech Week The dog and owner/guardian must be available to attend all technical rehearsals. They won’t necessarily be called the entire time of the rehearsal. Schedule:

  • Monday, April 3rd – 5:30 – 10pm 
  • Tuesday, April 4th  – 5:30 – 10pm 
  • Wednesday, April 5th  – 5:30 – 10pm 
  • Thursday, April 6th  – 5:30 – 10pm 


Performances The dog and owner/guardian must be available to attend all performances. 

  • Friday April 7 – 7:30pm
  • Saturday April 8 – 7:30pm
  • Friday April 14 – 7:30pm
  • Saturday April 15- 2pm
  • Saturday April 15 – 7:30pm
  • Sunday, April 16 – 2pm
  • Thursday, April 20 – 7:30pm 
  • Friday April 21- 7:30pm
  • Saturday April 22- 7:30pm
  • Sunday, April 23 -2pm

Casting Process

  1. Please complete the interest form below by February 26th. They will be reviewed as they are received. 
  2. We’ll set up meet and greet with dog, actor, and director for the first week of March with selected dogs. 
  3. Rehearsals (schedule TBD) would begin mid March.
