An Update on our production of Anon(ymous)

Jan 28, 2026

Due to ongoing safety concerns affecting members of our immediate community and the content of this story, we have decided to pause producing Anon(ymous) as part of our 25/26 season.

This play is a refugee story, reflecting the complexities of migration and belonging. While our mission compels us to share stories of our community, we are a human-centered organization and the safety of our communities of color, who are centered in this particular story, is of higher priority. As part of our decision-making process, we sought input from community partners and individuals most directly impacted—those whose voices would be essential to producing this work authentically and to building the relationships needed both onstage and in the audience.

GREAT is intentional in our programming in the stories we tell, building representation in the audience and onstage that reflects our community. This commitment is why we selected Anon(ymous) for our season—and why we remain dedicated to producing it when doing so does not jeopardize the safety of those involved.

If you are a ticket holder for Anon(ymous), we thank you for your continued support and we will be providing updated dates and information as they become available.

Thank you for your understanding and for being part of our story.

A powerful journey of self-discovery, identity, and belonging.

Anon(ymous) tells the story of a young refugee who has lost everything and is searching for a place to call home. Struggling to remember who they are and where they come from, Anon’s journey unfolds as a surreal blend of mythology, memory, and modern-day struggles. Drawing inspiration from the ancient epic The Odyssey, this poetic reimagining grapples with themes of personal identity, belonging, and the search for self amidst a fragmented world.

With a mix of fantasy and reality, Anon(ymous) takes the audience on a deeply emotional and thought-provoking journey. Through dynamic characters and rich, metaphorical storytelling, the play reflects the complexities of migration, the search for meaning, and what it truly means to belong in a world full of uncertainty.

Content Advisory: GREAT does not rate subject matter as sensitivities vary from person to person. Anon(ymous) contains depictions of xenophobia, mature language, violence, and discussions and sounds of war.
