Cherished for generations, this beloved musical continues to captivate audiences of all ages. With roles for youth and adults, Annie offers a multi-generational opportunity for families to share the stage creating unforgettable memories together.

Auditions are nerve-wracking whether it’s your first or seventy-sixth, so join us for an optional Zoom meeting to ask questions and learn about this specific production and audition process from the creative team. Meet the director, choreographer, and music director and hear about the vision of this show and how to best prepare. Our hope is the info session with ease some of the unknowns so you walk into auditions feeling comfortable and confident!

WHAT TO PREPARE

1) Please prepare a MONOLOGUE from the provided options. 

Please choose a monologue from our provided list that reflects the role(s) for which you wish to be considered. Lines don’t have to be memorized. We are looking for expression, projection, and creativity so relax and have fun with this. Feel free to move, gesture and have facial expressions.

 

2) ALL: Please learn the CHOREOGRAPHY from the provided video. 

Annie will come to life with lively, energetic choreography and musical staging. We are providing a choreography video for you to learn the piece in advance. All performers will review and then perform the short routine at the audition. Please dress for movement. 

 

3) ALL: Please prepare a MUSIC SELECTION from the provided options. 

Please prepare a song from our provided list that best showcases your voice and demonstrates a connection to the character. Remember to sing the story – you’re acting while singing. Please click on the link below for song options.

CHARACTER LISTS

Annie

Annie is a complex, tough, streetwise little girl who is nevertheless vulnerable. Assertive and sometimes sneaky, she is a friendly and caring child who will go to any extent to gain the love of a family to which she can belong.

Oliver Warbucks

Warbucks is a powerful, wealthy businessman known for his no-nonsense attitude and commanding presence. However, through Annie, he reveals a warm, generous, and deeply caring side.

Grace

Grace is mature, calm, cool and poised. She is classy and business-like with most, but maternal toward Annie. Each dramatic situation should seem to come “under control” the moment she glides into a scene.

Miss Hannigan

The orphanage matron who hates children but is fond of liquor. Disillusioned, bitter, and cold. Her distaste for her job should be obvious in everything she does.

Rooster

Rooster is Miss Hannigan’s  flashy and self-assured no-good brother. A sleazy, slick con man. His “moves” should be as smooth as a gambler’s.

Lily

Lily, a bit of a floozy, is Rooster’s girlfriend, who is always in for the con.

Orphans

These girls are gritty, neglected, and vulnerable, and also lovable kids who look out for each other while waiting for their own families. The actors portraying them must be able to have mischievous fun with each other as well as “sibling-style” fights. This diverse group needs to represent a variety of ages, shapes and sizes.

  • Molly – the littlest orphan
  • Pepper – the hot head and toughest
  • Duffy – the dreamer
  • Kate – caring and sympathetic
  • Tessie – the whiner
  • July – motherly and protective

Franklin Delano Roosevelt

FDR is the compassionate and wise 32nd President of the United States who is also a friend of Warbucks. We are looking for someone who can mimic FDR in appearance, voice and positive outlook on life!

Vocal range: Eb3 – F4

Drake

Drake is a very English style butler who is both proper and professional. He maintains and supervises the male staff but must give the audience a glimpse of excitement at key moments in the show.

Bert Healy 

A fast-talking 1930s radio personality. Sings “Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile” and helps Annie by broadcasting about the search for her birth parents.

Vocal range: E4 – G5

Ensemble

These ensemble roles are the key to making this production the best it can be! Roles include NYC residents, servants, radio personalities, FDR’s cabinet, and more. Featured ensemble roles include:

  • Mr. Bundles – The laundry man.
  • Star To Be – Singer newly arrived in New York City, she has a solo in “N.Y.C.”
  • Boylan Sisters – A trio of radio singers who perform in harmony.
