DESCRIPTION:  Buckle in for a fantastic musical adventure with an out-of-this-world car that flies through the air featuring an unforgettable score by the Sherman Brothers (Mary Poppins). Little known fact, Roald Dahl adapted the book into the film version! Filled with amazing stage spectacle and a flying, yes flying, car this is ultimately a feel-good story about the power of family and the bonds created to overcome any obstacle.  This musical is very similar to “Mary Poppins,” and “A Christmas Story” in that there are many featured, supporting and wonderful roles for all ages.

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE:  Show rehearsals start Feb. 6 and are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:00-9:00pm and Saturdays 10:00am-3:00pm.  Technical rehearsals are March 26th-March 30th (times to be decided.)

PUBLIC PERFORMANCES: Friday, March 31st at 7:00pm, Saturday, April 1st at 2:00pm, Sunday, April 2nd at 2:00pm, Friday, April 7th at 7:00pm, Saturday, April 8th at 2:00pm & 7:00pm and Sunday, April 9th at 2:00pm

SCHOOL PERFORMANCES:  One day of matinee performances on Wed. April 5th.

Caractacus Pott: (30’s –plus or minus) Lead Male. Featured in You Two, Toots Sweet, Hushabye Mountain, Me Ol’ Bamboo, Team work, Doll on a box

Truly Scrumptious: (20-30’s) Lead Female. Featured in Toots Sweet, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Truly Scrumptious, Lovely-Lonely Man, Teamwork, Doll on a Box

Grandpa Potts: (Over 50) Major Character. Featured in You Three, Posh, The Roses of Success, Chitty, Chitty Bang, Bang and other ensemble music. 

Baron Bomburst: (40-60) Major Comic Character. Featured in Chu-Chi Face vocal and ensemble music.

Baroness Bomburst:( 30-40? Very flexible) Major Comic Character. Featured in Chu-Chi Face vocal, The Bombie Samba and ensemble music.

The Childcatcher: (20-60) Major Villain

The Toymaker: (30-60) Strong Supporting Character. Featured in Teamwork, ensemble music

Jeremy Potts: (10-12) Lead Male Child. Featured in You Two, Toots Sweet, Posh, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Truly Scrumptious, Teamwork

Jemima: (10-12) Lead Female Child. Featured in You Two, Toots Sweet, Posh, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Truly Scrumptious, Teamwork

Boris: (20-60) Major Comic Character. Featured in Vaudeville duet-Act English, ensemble music. 

Goran: (20-60) Major Comic Character. Featured in Vaudeville duet-Act English, ensemble music.

The Inventors: (20-70) Made up to look like old men. Featured in a comic and challenging soft shoe dance-The Roses of Success and also included in many major dance/vocal ensemble numbers.

Coggins: (30-50) Garage Owner. Fatherly and caring.

Junkman: (Flexible) Customer for the old race car. Greedy and spiteful.

Lord Scrumptious: (40-60) Owner of Candy Factory. Truly’s father. Toots Sweet vocal

Miss Phillips: (Flexible) Candy factory receptionist. Very efficient and mechanical.

Violet: (20-40) Fun Fare Tourist. Pushy and overbearing.

Sid: (20-40) Violet’s husband. Weak but with a strong temper.

Turkey Farmer: (Flexible) Buyer of Pott’s barber machine. Good humored and enthusiastic.

Captain: (40-60) Vulgarian ship captain. Booming voice.

Captain: (40-60) Leader of Vulgarian Guards. Pompous and cowardly.

Morris Men: 4-6 men as comic Soldiers of the elite Vulgarian Guard and featured in Me Ol’ Bamboo, Bombie Samba and all major dance numbers.

Female Dancers: 4-6 women for dazzling numbers include Toots Sweet, Me Ol’ Bamboo, German Folk Dance and the famous Bombie Samba 

Ensemble Youth and adults: Many character parts. Wonderful musical numbers include Toots Sweet, Me Ol’Bamboo, Chitty, Chitty, Bang Bang, Vugarian Anthem and Bombie Samba. Actors will play characters in the English Crowd at the Grand Prix, Employees of The Candy Factor, English Villagers, citizens and soldiers of Vulgaria.
