Are you looking to share your skills while making an impact in your community?
We are hosting a volunteer open house at GREAT World Headquarters on Monday, August 29th at 5pm. The event is open to the public and for all ages and skill levels - adults, teens, families, and seniors. This event is intended for people who have not volunteered with GREAT in the past and are looking to get involved.
GREAT Theatre was founded in 1998 by a dedicated group of volunteers, many of whom still help create amazing theater today! Last year alone, over 55,000 hours of volunteer time was donated to GREAT.
As we continue to grow, so does our volunteer program and opportunities.
GREAT World Headquarters is a first of its kind in the state, volunteer and education center that includes rehearsal halls, scene shop, costume shop, administrative office, and (coming soon!) a learning lab theatre; all the behind the scenes magic happens under one roof.
While we are fortunate to have a professional production staff, volunteers are an essential component of our shows and community outreach efforts. Volunteers are depended upon to accomplish much of the production workload including sewing from patterns and scratch, pinning and cutting fabric, crafts such as gluing and beading, basic carpentry, welding, painting sets, backstage crew, light and sound assistants, weekday student matinee ushers, database entry, mailings, and more! There are opportunities for all skill levels, including many family-friendly projects. (Please note a background check is required for adults.)
Attendees at our Volunteer Open House will have an opportunity to tour GREAT World Headquarters, meet current volunteers and the GREAT staff, enjoy light snacks and beverages, and learn more about the how GREAT can be a place for them to use their time and talents to have an impact on our community.
